The Japanese are very gullible and would probably indeed believe that I had .5 of a cat. I was teaching them how to ask "Do you have....?" and one boy decided to ask "Do yo have an elephant." I thought a playful question deserved a playful answer so I said "Yes. I do." Their eyes widened with awe. "Hontou ni?!" Discounting the language barrier, that would have hilarious results.
